Loved and forgiven by a gracious Triune God, we become a community of love that inspires worship, compassion, service, prayer and spiritual growth in Christ  -  within these walls and beyond.

Our Mission: To make disciples by sharing the love and forgiveness of Jesus.

Imagine: Christ Alive At Bethlehem!

Bethlehem is a Missouri Synod Lutheran church located in Altoona, WI.  Our best understanding of God's calling and plan for Bethlehem is to connect people to His Son, Jesus Christ, and to show God's love by caring for each other, our guests and visitors, and our community.

God's Will for the Future of Our Congregation
Our community is Christ centered because of His work through Bethlehem.  We are His hands reaching out to our community providing a stable shelter.  Bethlehem is a beacon of hope and care in the sea of life because we are anchored to His Word.

Our guests return often because they are connected to Jesus through the Gospel.  They are genuinely welcomed, consistently included, and intentionally supported.

Our members are passionate disciples worshipping and growing in Christ with a deep, contagious faith.  We are equipped, encouraged, and challenged to be His servants to the world.

Join with us to realize this vision for Bethlehem and our community!

Come as Visitors, Leave as Friends
At Bethlehem we foster a spirit of evangelism, encourage personal witness, and invite our community to join the Family of God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.  When we participate in the congregation's mission to make disciples by sharing the love and forgiveness of Jesus, we bring God's love to our homes, neighbors, and nations of the entire world.

Join us!
We welcome you to join us at any time for worship, Bible study, and any activities that interest you.  If you would like to become a member of Bethlehem, please contact the church office for more information.

Almighty God, we pray, especially for Bethlehem, as we enter into a season of calling a new pastor.  Guide the Call Committee as it seeks to better understand what our people desire in our next shepherd.  Give wisdom as candidates are considered.   Lead us to call a pastor who will enable us to better fulfill our individual and church-wide mission of bringing the love of Jesus to the Altoona area and beyond.  In Jesus’ name.

If you are in need of a Pastor, contact Pastor Mark Schulz at 715-210-5351 (cell), 715-834-5486 (Peace Church) or via email at MarkS@MyPeaceChurch.com

We invite you to help shape the next season of Bethlehem's life while allowing God to shape your life through His life-giving Word.  Over six weeks we will consider the six values held by Bethlehem as identified in last fall's visioning process: God is Love; Worship; Forgiveness & Salvation; Community; Spiritual feeding through God's Word; Serving.  In addition to considering key Bible passages speaking to these themes, we will be discussing questions as to how Bethlehem can better live out these values and what you are looking for in your next pastor.

This is your opportunity to ...

  • speak into the process of calling your future pastor
  • hear from God regarding His heart for your life and your church
  • gain a better understanding of Bethlehem's mission and your calling as a follower of Jesus.

This study will take place on the following Mondays from 6 pm - 7 pm at Bethlehem: October 8, 22, 29; November 5, 12, 19.

RSVP to Charleen at blcsecretary@gmail.com or 715-832-9953, ext.2

Men's Discussion Group

This is an invitation to a NEW MINISTRY FOR MEN who have an interest in exploring God at work in their lives.  We meet each Tuesday morning at 6:00 am at Burger King, across from Perkins on Hastings Way.

Come when you can...grow at your pace.

If you have a son or daughter who is away at college or moved away from home, call or send an email to the church office.  We'd like to keep them in the Bethlehem family loop with newsletters and emails.

The Mission of the Month for September is "Operation Christmas Child".  Funds collected will be used to ship gift-filled shoeboxes to children in countries around the world.  This project is part of Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief program which has been doing this since 1990.  This is a tool for transforming the lives of children and their families through the Good News of Jesus Christ.  There is a $9 fee for each box we ship (last year we shipped 56 boxes).

Donations will also be accepted to fill the boxes.  Small toys, school supplies and non-liquid hygiene products will be welcomed until November 11.
